Medical Transcription
The Medical Transcription Certificate program prepares the student to transcribe medical dictation in legal medical documents that become part of a permanent health record. Students take coursework for a medical secretary certificate, with additional instruction in transcription applications, followed by the medical transcription competency exam. Employment may be found with medical and dental offices, hospitals, free-standing clinics, medical transcription service companies, insurance companies, with the possibility of working from home. Transcriptionists use excellent keyboarding, grammar, and spelling skills with their knowledge of terminology, anatomy, disease processes, pharmacology, and medical procedures to transcribe dictation to document patient care.
